UK: Misslyckad satsning på baskunskaper

"Primary pupils without basic skills highlight Labour's biggest failure",  säger den brittiske skolministern Lord Adonis till the Guardian (2008-08-21),

20% of pupils who leave primary school lacking basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics is the biggest failure of the Labour government's education policies. Adonis - who today oversees the publication of GCSE results for the first generation of schoolchildren solely educated under the Labour government - admitted more reform was needed to make sure all pupils mastered the 3Rs early.
